Community Members:

We are committed to supporting our community, however due to current budget constraints we are not able to run 3D or laser jobs for community members at this time.  Please check back intermittently for any updates to services.

3D Printing

  • The CSM Library MakerSpace uses Bambu X1 Carbon printers (models below)
  • You will need an @my.smccd.edu or gmail account to submit a request (only accepting CSM student printing at this time)

FAQs

What printer does the library have?

Bambu X1 Carbon

 

What filament does the library use?

The X1 Carbon uses corn-based 1.75mm PLA (Polyactic Acid) Biodegradable Filament to print 3-dimensional objects. PLA is biodegradable.

What files does the printer use?

The printer uses .STL, .OBJ, and 3MF files. 3D print files may also be found in an online object library, such as Thingiverse, Makerworld and Printables.

 

How much does it cost?

3D Printing at the Library is currently free for student projects. A fee may be charged in the future to cover printing costs.
